       Henry/3w Brooks was born 4 Oct 1671 at Woburn, MA.1 In the will of his grandfather Henry/1w Brooks, dated 18 Jul 1682, Henry and his brother Isaac were jointly bequeathed "about 80 acres of upland on west side of the highway on both sides of the river," half of three small shares amounting to 15 acres in the town's common land, and half of 6 acres in Shred Pine Meadow "for the town privilege in herbage." They shared with their sister Miriam a bequest of 8 acres in Forty Pound Meadow.2,3 With his wife Mary and brother Isaac, Henry sold, 9 Dec 1696, a parcel of land in Reading.4 Of Woburn, there Henry married (1), 9 Dec 1692, Mary Graves of Sudbury.5,6
     "Henry Brooks, husbandman, sold (abt 1693) to Jonathan Richardson, 80 acres in Woburn given him by the will of his grandfather, Henry Brooks, dated July 18, 1682 (Johnson, Woburn Deeds, p. 30). See further, in addition to Hempstead's Diary, The Later History of the First Church of Christ of New London, Conn., by Rev. S. Leroy Blake, D.D."7 Of Sudbury, 1696, per Middlesex County Deeds.8
     A clothier and husbandman, he removed, by 1699, to New London, CT where his wife apparently died.9 There he married (2), 30 May 1704, Eleph/3 Chappell of N.L., daughter of George/2 Chappell and Alice Way.10,11 Henry and Eleph owned the covenant 29 Sep 1706 at the First Church, 4 children being baptised the same day.12
     His will, dated 20 May 1727, was proved 1733/4. To sons Henry, Isaac, Timothy, John, Comfort, Samuel, Josiah, and Benjamin, and daughters Hannah Beckwith, Ruth Brooks, Eliff Brooks, Anna Brooks, and Mary Brooks, each a legacy of £2 current money. Wife Eliff, executrix.13 Henry Brooks died at New London 17 Feb 1733/34 at age 62.7,14 He is buried in the Ancient Burying Ground.9 Eleph died at New London 5 Feb 1751/52.9
     Probably the same Henry Brooks who successfully petitioned the General Court, 13 Oct 1720, for a reversal of superior court judgment against him in a suit with Ebenz Dart.15

       Eleph/3 Chappell was born circa 1680 at New London, CT.1 There she married, as his 2d wife, 30 May 1704, Henry/3w Brooks of N.L., son of Isaac/2w Brooks and Miriam/1? Daniels.3,4 They owned the covenant 29 Sep 1706 at the First Church, New London, 4 children being baptised the same day.5 1 Sep 1737, Eliff Brooks and her siblings sold their brother Comfort Chappell, for £50, land which had been given to them by their father.2 Wife Eliff was mentioned in her husband's will, 20 May 1727, and named executrix.6 Admitted to the church 13 Jul 1729.7 Henry died at New London 17 Feb 1733/34.1,8
     In her will, dated 1748, proved 17 Jul 1752, Ellef Brooks of New London "names nine children only as hers, and gives to [stepdaughter] Ruth Beckwith, but not as her child."9,6 Eleph died 5 Feb 1751/2, aged 74. Joshua Hempstead's diary records that on 5 Jan of that year a contribution was taken for widow Elliff Brooks "who is reduced to want by age and weakness."10 Hempstead also records attending her funeral on the day after her death.11 Her inventory amounted to £167-06-11.6

       George/2 Chappell Jr. was born 17 Mar 1653 at New London or Wethersfield, CT (rec. both places).1 He married (1), 3 Oct 1676 at New London, Alice Way.2 There she died in 1702.3 There he married (2), 10 Jun 1703, Mary Douglas.3 There he died 10 Oct 1712 or 13.3
     13 Jan 1713, George Chappell's estate was divided among his children. 1 Sep 1737, George's son Comfort Chappell bought of his siblings John Chappell, George Chappell, Eliff Brooks, and Jacob Chappell of New London, and Mehitable Beckwith of Lyme, for £50, land which had been given to them by their father.3

       Henry Merrow Jr. was probably the unidentified child of Henry Merrow born at Woburn, MA, on 14 Sep 1662.1 A tailor, he married, by 1693, Miriam/3w Brooks of Woburn, daughter of Isaac/2w Brooks and Miriam/1? Daniels.2 Of Reading, 1693, Woburn, 1695.

       Henry Merrow married, 19 Dec 1661 at Woburn, MA, Jane (–?–), widow of John Wallis.1 "In April, 1662, 'Henry Merre of Woburn, Scotchman, being bound over to this Court to Answer for his cruel beating John Wallis his wive's child about 4 years old' was bound over to the next Court and gave security to keep the peace 'especially towards his wife and her children.'—" (Middlesex County Court Records 1:248.).2 Henry Merrow died at Reading 5 Nov 1685.3 "In Dec., 1685, administration was granted to 'Jane Marrow, Relict of Henery Marrow, late of Redding,' deceased.—" Middlesex County Court Records 3:210.2
