       William/2k? Brooks was likely the son of John/1k Brooks and Eleanor/2 Frye of Kittery, ME. There he married, 11 Aug 1709, Mary/3 Fogg of Kittery, daughter of Daniel/2 Fogg and Hannah Libby, with whom he had 5 children.^1,2 A shipwright, he bought land at Kittery of Nicholas Shapleigh, 1710.³
     List of landowners in 1712. "This committee report, which laid the foundation for proprietors' rights in the undivided lands, is printed in Stackpole's Kit. from the town records."^1,4 In 1718 Wm. Brooks and Zebulon Trickey were tenants of the Downing estate.⁵ In Sep 1722, the Kittery selectmen assigned adjacent families from William Brooks through Jacob Remick Jun^r to emergency shelter in John Staple's garrison house.⁶ In 1733 Hanney Spinney, wife of John Cane, accused Wm. Brooks, and her father Thomas Spinney went her bond.⁷
     William Brooks had two shares (for himself and son Joshua?) in the final division of the Common Lands, 11 Feb 1744–5, "though quite possibly dead by then."^8,4 His wife was noted as deceased in her father's will of 14 Jul 1747.^9,10

       Mary/3 Fogg, according to Stackpole, was born about 1689 at Scarborough, ME; according to William Fogg ("Fogg Family"), her birth occurred about 1686.^2,3 Her parents were living at Kittery, ME, when she married there, 11 Aug 1709, William/2k? Brooks of Kittery, probably, son of John/1k Brooks and Eleanor/2 Frye, with whom she had 5 children.^4,5 She died before 14 Jul 1747, when her father's will bequeathed 50s to the children of my daughter Mary Brooks dec^d.^2,6

       Mary/3k Brooks was born 4 Aug 1710 at Kittery, ME.^2,1 She married, 16 Jun 1730, John Hanscom of Kittery, son of Thomas Hanscom and Tamsen Gowell, with whom she had 5 children.³ The will of her grandfather Daniel/2 Fogg, dated 14 Jul 1747, bequeathed 50s in bills of public credit to be divided equally among the children of my daughter Mary Brooks dec^d.^4,5 John Hanscom's will was dated 4 Aug, proved 1 Sep 1790.³

       John Hanscom was born 15 Apr 1705 at Kittery, ME.¹ He married, 16 Jun 1730, Mary/3k Brooks of Kittery, daughter of William/2k? Brooks and Mary/3 Fogg, with whom he had 5 children.¹ His will was dated 4 Aug, proved 1 Sep 1790.¹

       Joshua/3k Brooks was born 2 Oct 1712 at Kittery, ME.^2,1 There he married, 2 Aug (int. 14 Jul) 1733, Anna Staples, daughter of John Staples and Mary Dixon.³ The will of his grandfather Daniel/2 Fogg, dated 14 Jul 1747, bequeathed 50s in bills of public credit to be divided equally among the children of my daughter Mary Brooks dec^d.^4,5

       Anna Staples, of Kittery, ME, there married, 2 Aug (int. 14 Jul) 1733, Joshua/3k Brooks of Kittery, son of William/2k? Brooks and Mary/3 Fogg.³ Daughter Annah Brooks was provided a legacy of £4 in her father's will, 21 Nov 1744.^2,1
