Thomas Floyd/6k Brooks was born in Maine circa 1807.2 He was baptised with 4 siblings 30 Jun 1807 at Kittery.1,2 He married, 13 Oct 1831, Catharine Tobey.1
The 1850 census recorded Thomas F. (a. 43, mason, real estate $700), Catherine (a. 38), and children Susan (a. 13), George (a. 17, joiner, attended school), Ann C. (a. 15, student), Ellen (a. 12, student), Sarah (a. 10, student), Olive (a. 7, student) and James (a. 6, student) in their household at Eliot.2
The 1860 census recorded Thomas F. (a. 53, mason, r.e. $0, p.e. $175), Catharine (a. 48), Anna C. (a. 24, store clerk), Ellen M. (a. 22, tailoress), Sarah A. (a. 19, factory operative), Olive E. (a. 17, student), James H. (a. 15, farmer, attended school), and Alice C. (a. 3) in their Eliot household.3
The 1870 census recorded Thomas (a. 63, brickmason), Catherine (a. 58), unmarried daughters Ann C. (a. 35) and Olive E. (a. 27) Brooks, and son James Brooks (a. 26, grocer) in their household at Eliot. Two doors down was Abraham Brooks and three doors down Jeremiah Brooks, presumed to be Thomas's brothers.4

Alpheus H/6k Brooks was born 24 Jan 1810 at Kittery, ME.1,2 He married (1), in 1839 [newspaper report dated 12 Oct] at Newington, NH, Clarissa A.D. Quint of Newington.2,3 The 1850 census recorded his Eliot, ME household as himself (a. 40, carpenter, estate $300), Clarissa (a. 31), and children Clara, Alpheus and Mary.2
Clarissa died sometime before 1860. That year's census (dated 2 Jul) recorded Alpheus H. Brooks (a. 50, ship carpenter, r.e. $750, p.e. $30), Martha A. Spinney (a. 39, domestic), Alpheus's children by his 1st marriage, Clara, Alpheus and Mary, and Martha's daughter Mary Spinney (a. 10) by her 1st marriage, in his household at Eliot.4
Alpheus subsequently married the widow Spinney, 30 Sep 1860, at the Universalist Church, Portsmouth, NH.5 Their 1870 Eliot household consisted of Alpheus H. (a. 60, ship carpenter, r.e. $750, p.e. $100), Martha A. (a. 49), and his son Alpheus B. (a. 24, also a ship carpenter.6 In 1880 their Eliot household included Alpheus H. (a. 38, carpenter, real estate $500), Abigail (a. 37), William (a. 5, student) and Almeda (a. 1) in their household at Eliot, ME. Next door, boarding with Charles Spinney, were William's widowed mother Mary Brooks and unmarried sister Sarah Brooks.3

Sarah Ann/6k Brooks was born 14 Dec 1820 at Kittery, ME.1 Recorded in the 1850 census (a. 28) at Eliot, boarding with her widowed mother in the household of Charles Spinney. Next door was her brother William Walker Brooks and his family.2 Unmarried.1
