Pvt. Luke/5a Brooks was born 10 Aug 1731 at Concord, MA.1 He married (int. 16 May 1755, Stow), Lucy/5 Wheeler, daughter of Capt. Timothy/4 Wheeler and Abigail/3 Munroe, with whom he had 10 children.2 They lived at Stow, where his 1790 census household included Luke, three other males over 16, and three females.3 Lucy died at Stow 8 Jan 1817.4 There he died the 17th of the same month, at age 85.5
His home, a brick house on the Stow/Boxborough town line, still stands, said his descendant Cynthia Walker in 1998: "I've never been there, but I've been told ... Go to Boxborough, and as you cross the town line into Stow, it's the 1st house over the town line, a large brick house on the left." But according to The Minute Men, he lived in Assabet Village, then part of Stow, later set off to Maynard; this location was, in 1975, at the corner of Summer Hill Rd. and Summer St.6,7
Luke Brooks was in the Assabet company of minute men which marched on the Lexington Alarm, 19 Apr 1775.7
