Dea. John/4a Brooks was born 12 Feb 1701/2 at Concord, MA.1 He married, Jan 1728, Lydia/4 Barker of Concord, daughter of John/3 Barker and Elizabeth Harwood.2,3 They had 10 children, two of them doctors. Mentioned in his father's will, 6 Jan 1728/29.4
He "lived in that part of Concord which was set off to form Acton in 1735."5 Deacon of the First Church, Acton, and selectman; perhaps also "assessor several years" [Jonas H. Brooks].6,7 "December 21, 1772, he was on a committee from his town to consider the state of the rights of the colonists and the violation of said rights and report a draft of such votes as they shall think proper."8 He died at Acton 6 Mar 1777 (g.s.) at age 75.9 There his widow died 30 Jun 1802.10,11 They are buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.12,13

Jonas/4a Brooks was born 3 Oct 1718 at Concord, MA.1,2 Removed to Bolton, where he was mentioned in his father's will, 4 May 1746.3 There he married, 25 Dec 1746, Dinah/5w Pike of Bolton, daughter of Nathaniel/3 Pike and Mary/4w Buck, with whom he had 8 children.4,5,6 They lived at Bolton and Groton, then removed to Ashburnham, perhaps as early as 1781, when their son Jonas Jr. married there.7 Jonas and two adult sons all headed households at Ashburnham in 1790. Jonas's included himself, Dinah, and one other male over 16, probably a grandson.8 Dinah died his widow at Ashburnham, 24 Aug 1797.9,7
