       Joel/4s Brooks was born 15 Oct 1743 at Springfield, MA, and there baptised 23 Oct at the First Church.2,1 He married, 30 Dec 1766 at Glastonbury, CT, Rebecca Gosley of Glastonbury, daughter of Timothy Gosley and Rebecca Hollister.3,4 They were recorded at Glastonbury in the 1790 census, the household comprised of Joel, five males under 16, and four females.5

       Silence/3s Brooks was born circa 7 Sep 1701 [1707, town rec.] at Deerfield, MA.1,2,3 There she married, 7 Jun 1720, Edmund Grandy of Northfield.4,5 Their children, probably born at Northfield, were recorded at Deerfield.6

       Edmund Grandy was baptised 21 Jun 1685 at the First Church, Roxbury, MA.1 He was a soldier at Deerfield, 15 Mar 1711/12.2 He had a grant of a house lot at Northfield, 1717, and of other land, 10 Mar 1719, and soon removed there.2 Then of Northfield, he married, 7 Jun 1720 at Deerfield, Silence/3s Brooks of Deerfield, daughter of Joseph/2s Brooks and Lydia/3 Warner.3,4 Their children, probably born at Northfield, were recorded at Deerfield.2 Soldier under Capt. Kellogg, 1724.2

       Nathaniel/4s Brooks III was born 8 Oct 1743, probably at Winchester, NH (also recorded at Deerfield, MA).1,2 He settled by 1760 in that part of Deerfield which later became Greenfield, where his name appears on a tax list of 1775.3 Perhaps the Nathl Brooks recorded at Hinsdale, Windham, VT, in the 1790 census, household composition two males over 16, one male under, and four females.4 The Hinsdale man was probably the same who was an early settler at Vernon, Windham, VT, where he "located on the farm now owned by his grandson, Lewis Brooks, on road 10½. He was a farmer, and died in the town."5
