       Mehitabel/4s Brooks was born 14 Jul 1749 at Deerfield, MA.1 Probably the same, of Montague, MA, who married (int. 27 Apr 1771, at Montague) Joel/4s Perkins of Montague, son of John Perkins and Dorcas/3s? Brooks, and her 1st cousin.2 (But then who was the M.B. who married at Montague, 22 Nov 1787, Nathan Wetmore of Montague?).3 Joel Perkins was living and resident at Montague in 1790, and had a daughter with wife Mehitabel the same year.4

       Samuel/3s Brooks was born 20 Aug 1712 at Deerfield, MA.1 He married Mehitabel Child.2,3 (According to Genealogy of William Allis of Hatfield, she was Mehitabel Allis, daughter of Thomas Allis and Mehitabel Evarts of Hatfield. The author is mistakenly looking at Samuel Brooks of New Haven, who married at Killingworth, 23 Jun 1748, Mehitabel Ellis of Haddam. In 1748 Samuel/3s Brooks was resident at Deerfield and building a home there.).4 Their South Deerfield residence, erected 1748, a photo of which is found in the Mrs. Beverly Brooks m.s., was still standing in the 1940s and known as "The Bars."5
