Capt. Benjamin/4c Brooks Jr. was born 4 Nov 17[44] at Farmington, CT, and baptised 17 Feb following at Southington Congregational Church.1,2 Appointed lieutenant of the 6th company or trainband of Farmington by the General Assembly of Oct-Nov 1763; captain of the same, Oct 1766.3 Probably the Capt. Benjamin of Hartford who married, 9 Jun 1774 at the 1st Congregational Church, New Haven, Rebecca Sherman of New Haven, daughter of James Sherman and Sarah Cooke.4,5 Recorded in 1776 at Claremont, NH, where he, his father, and his brother Barnabas each refused to sign the declaration of Revolutionary loyalty known as the New Hampshire Association Test attached to that year's state census, while brother Cornelius "made no association." All three brothers later removed to Otsego County, NY.6 Of Hamden, CT in the 1790 census, household including himself, two males over 16, and two females.7 Sometime thereafter removed to Butternuts (now Morris), NY.8,9 Probably there he married (2) Lucy (–?–), who d. there 21 Aug 1812.10,9 There he died 8 Aug 1825 (g.s.) at age 80.10,11,9 They are buried in Harmony Church Burying Ground, Morris.10,12

Mary Cooper was born 10 Jun [Jacobus; Jan., Ricker] 1725 at New Haven, CT.1,2 She married, as his 1st wife, 4 Dec 1745 at Wallingford, CT, Henry/3c Brooks, son of Lt. Thomas/2c Brooks and Martha Hotchkiss.1,3 She died 29 Jul 1789 (c.r., g.s.) at age 64.1 Buried in St. Peter's (Episcopal) Church graveyard, Cheshire.1 He married (2) Mehitabel Royce, removed to Bristol, and d. 1797.1

Henry/4c Brooks Jr. was born 10 Nov 1748 at Wallingford, CT, and baptised the 20th at the Congregational church in Cheshire.2,1 He married, 5 Feb 1775 at Cheshire, Content Andrews of Wallingford, daughter of Enos Andrews and Content Curtis.3,2 The 1790 census recorded him at Cheshire, with four males under 16 and four females in the household.4 There he died 14 Oct 1820 [1821, g.s.] at age 71.5,2 Buried in the Episcopal graveyard, Cheshire.2

Stephen/4c Brooks was born at Wallingford, CT, 10 May 1750, and baptised the following month at the Congregational church in Cheshire.2,1 Perhaps the Capt. Brooks who was one of the first settlers of Hampton, Washington County, NY, which patent was granted in 1771, and "first settlement was made some little time before the Revolution."3 He married, 13 Feb 1772 at Wallingford, Elizabeth Smith, daughter of John Smith and Mary Cook.2,4 Stephen Brooks appears on a 1775 sick bill of soldiers under Lt. Col. Hall.5 He was recorded at Hampton in the 1820 census.6 Buried in the old cemetery, Queens St., Whitehall, NY.7 "Family incomplete" (Jacobus).2

Joel/4c Brooks was born 4 Mar 1761 at Wallingford, CT.2,1 8 Sep 1783, his 1st cousin Enos/4 Brooks quit-claims to him land, dam and mill privileges at Cheshire, CT.3 He married, 26 Jan 1786 at Cheshire, Miriam/5 Moss of Wallingford, daughter of Capt. Titus/4 Moss and Mary Atwater.4,2 Of Cheshire in the 1790 census, household composed of himself, one male under 16 (son Cooper), and two females (wife Miriam and daughter Arvilla).5 15 Jan 1806, Eliakim/5c Brooks and Abijah/5c Brooks bought 20 acres in Cheshire, same bounds as those quit-claimed by their father Enos to Joel in 1783.6 His wife died at Cheshire 13 May 1832.7,2 There he died 17 Sep 1838 at age 77.8,2 They are buried in St. Peter's (Episcopal) Church graveyard.2,9
