Taylor/4p Brooks was born 28 Aug 1718 at Scituate, MA.1 There he married (1), 8 May 1740 (int. 5 Apr), Miriam Curtis.2 She died 16 May 1756 (Hanover c.r.).3,4 Then of Dighton, he married (2), 10 Sep 1761 at Taunton, Lydia Smith of Taunton.5
"There was a Taylor Brooks in H., 1750, a shipwright, but left no ch. on record," says Barry.6
"Taylor may have lived in that section of Scituate (plus a bit of Abington) which became Hanover in 1727," writes descendant Marion Brooks Gonsalves. "That would include a section of the North River where the shipbuilding industry thrived during the 18th century. It makes sense that as a shipwright, he would have lived within reasonable distance of the river. Originally all of that North River shoreline was part of Scituate. Then it became Scituate and Hanover, and now is Scituate, Norwell, and Hanover in that order from the mouth of the river on the north bank, facing Marshfield and Pembroke on the south bank in order from the mouth."7
