John/6g Brooks was baptised 4 Jul 1778 at Eastbury Parish, Glastonbury, CT, "on mother's account, the father being in the Army."1 At Deerfield, MA with his parents, 1788.2 He married Jerusha (–?–).3 John Brooks (a. 75, farmer) and wife Jerusha (a. 70) were recorded in the 1850 census in their son Horace's household at Smyrna, NY.4 John died before 1852 "per deed."5 Jerusha died 26 Mar 1862.3

Dr. Theseus/6g Brooks, a twin, was born 26 May 1788 in Berkshire County, MA.3 At Deerfield, MA with his parents, 1788.4 His parents settled about 1790/91 on the west green of what became Norwich village, Chenango County, NY.2,5 He married Roxanna Baird.6 He died in Mar 1856 at Elmira, NY, at age 68.3,7,6 There she died 8 Oct 1877.6
"[H]e studied medicine with the late Henry Mitchell, M.D., of Norwich, N.Y., and practiced his profession a few years in Chenango county; he removed to Big Flats, Chemung county, in the year 1821, where he continued to reside, having an extensive practice, until the year 1835, when he removed to Elmira, where he died in March, 1856, aged 68 years. He was father of Hon. E.P. Brooks, of this city, and of the late Henry C. [overwritten ‘S’ or possibly ‘B’] Brooks. He was a physician who singularly obtained the affection and good will of his patients; among the lower classes his mild manner and ready acquaintance always made him welcome. He was successful, as a physician, in accumulating quite a property. To the last he still maintained his practice among those who had been long his cherished friends or acquaintances."3

Roxanna Baird was born in Massachusetts in Jun 1786.1 She married Dr. Theseus/6g Brooks (son of Major Thomas/5g Brooks and Lucy/5g Brooks).1 He died in Mar 1856 at Elmira, NY.2,3,1 There she died 8 Oct 1877 at age 91.1
