       Abraham/4h Brooks Jr. was born 16 Sep 1750 at Haddam, CT.1 His name is included in a 1775 list of Haddam persons resident in that town who had been employed in the Continental service in 1775, and who under a law passed in December of that year were exempted from the payment of certain taxes to the state.2 He married, 4 May 1780 at Haddam, Abigail Clark, daughter of John Clark and Susanna Smith.3 Their 1790 census household at Haddam included Abraham and one female.4 There he died circa Mar 1824 [newspaper announcement dated 6 Apr], "aged 73."5
     According to a descendant's NSDAR membership application, "Abraham Brooks, 1775, enlisted in Capt. John Ely's company, Col. Samuel Holden Parsons' regiment. He was captured and confined on the prison ship Jersey, but being a good swimmer made his escape."6

       Jerusha/4h Brooks was born 8 Jan 1744/45 at Haddam, CT.1 She married, by 1774, Dea. Isaac/5 Smith Jr., son of Dea. Isaac/4 Smith and Mary Sparrow.2 He died at East Hampton 28 Oct 1815.3,4 She died 11 Jul 1836 (g.s.) at age 91.5,3 Buried with Isaac 13 Jul 1836 in Lakeview Cemetery, East Hampton.5,3

       Jonathan/4h Brooks was born 23 Sep 1747 at Haddam, CT.1 There he married, 1 Oct 1767, Hope Bailey.2 The 1790 census recorded their Haddam household as Jonathan, two males under 16, and four females.3 He died 20 Feb 1797 (g.s.), "ae 49."4 He predeceased his wife, whose death at Middletown was reported in a newspaper of 4 Aug 1828.5 He is buried in the old cemetery, Haddam.4
