       Mary/2 Burt, 1st so-named, was baptised [2?] Apr 1632 at Harberton, Devonshire, and there buried 18 Jul 1634.¹

       Patience/2 Burt was born 8/18 Aug 1645 at Springfield, MA.^2,1 There she married, 7 Oct 1667, John/2 Bliss of Northampton, son of Thomas/1 Bliss and Margaret/1 Hulins, magistrate John Pynchon presiding.^3,4 Her mother's will, 27 May 1684, left daughter Patience, Flocke bed at the Medow, a Pillow-beer, one pair of sheets and a Coverlet, my red stockins, one shift, one white neck cloth, on dressing, my hat, one Coif and one coate, and the one halfe of my Clothe that is sent to the Weavers, after two yeards are taken of for Abilene Bage.⁵ Her husband died at Longmeadow 10 Sep 1702.^6,7 She died at Springfield 25 Oct 1732, at age 87.⁸

       John/2 Bliss was born in England circa 1635.¹ He married, 7 Oct 1667 at Springfield, MA, Patience/2 Burt, daughter of Henry/1 Burt and Ulalia/1 Marche.^2,3 John/2 Bliss witnessed the will of Margaret/1 Hulins on 25 Jun 1684 at Springfield, MA.⁴ He died at Longmeadow 10 Sep 1702.^5,1 His widow died at Springfield 25 Oct 1732.⁶
     "He came to America with his parents in about 1638 and after the death of his father in 1650/1, he was taken to Springfield, Mass., by his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Bliss removed in 1672 to Northampton, Mass. They were there during John's sister's famous trial for witchcraft and returned to Springfield near the close of 1685. They afterwards removed to Longmeadow, where Mr. Bliss died.
     "Mr. Bliss built a house at Northampton, Massachusetts in 1658 for his sister Mary (Bliss) Parsons. The structure is now [1981] owned by the Northampton Historical Society."¹
