       Capt. Benjamin/3c Brooks was born 23 Apr 1720 at Wallingford, CT, and baptised with 9 siblings 30 May 1725 at the Congregational church, Cheshire.2,1,3 He married, 15 Dec 1741 (Meriden c.r.), Thankful Hickox, daughter of John Hickox and Mary Gaylord.4,2 Son Benjamin of Wallingford, CT is mentioned in his mother's deed of 23 Jan 1755.5 Resided Southbridge, removed to New Hampshire, then returned to North Haven, CT in 1780.2 Recorded, 1776, with sons Barnabas and Benjamin at Claremont, NH, where each refused to sign the declaration of Revolutionary loyalty known as the New Hampshire Association Test attached to that year's state census, while son Cornelius "made no association." These sons later removed to Otsego County, NY.6 Benjamin died 29 Jan 1784 (g.s.).2 He shares a gravestone with his son Reuben in the old graveyard, North Haven, CT.2,7 His widow married (2) Stephen Hotchkiss.2
     Yale incorrectly states that he res. Hamden, and "had but one son."8
