       Hopestill/5c Crittenden was born in New York state circa 1811.1 He married, by 1837, Casandana (–?–).1 The 1850 census recorded Jeremiah Crittenden (a. 82, farmer) at Morris, NY, where his household included Hopestill and Casandana and their 6 children; Abigail (a. 77) and Caroline (a. 46) Noble; and Laura Wilds (a. 23). Hopestill appears to have been the household provider, as his estate is rated at $6000, while the father's is unrated.1
