       Rebecca/2 Nims, 2d so-named and a twin, was born 14 Aug 1679 at Northampton, MA.1 She married, 15 Jan 1702/3 at Deerfield, Philip/2 Mattoon Jr. of Deerfield, son of Philip/1 Mattoon and Sarah Hawks.2 Both husband and wife were slain, with their infant child, in the French and Indian raid on Deerfield, 29 Feb 1703/4. According to Fitz John Winthrop's account, Rebecca and the child burned in a cellar, probably trapped by the collapse of the house above.1,3
