Charles/1 Hoar, of Gloucester, England, married Joanna/1 Hincksman.3,4,5 A sadler, he was alderman of Gloucester, and also sheriff.1,2 Administration on his will, dated 25 Sep 1638, was granted to his widow Joane, 21 Dec 1638.
His will mentioned all his children save eldest son Thomas. Also mentioned were grandchild Charles Mathewe, brother Thomas Hoare; sister Elinor Bailies; brothers-in-law William, Walter, Edward and Thomas Hincksman; and sister or sister-in-law ffounes.
He had a "large estate, both in lands and money, as he bequeathes very considerable sums and disposes of lands at several places as a provision for the wife and younger children, Thomas, the eldest, being probably provided for in his father's lifetime. The will directs that his 'sonne Leonard shalbe carefullie kept at Schoole and when hee is fitt for itt to be carefullie placed at Oxford, and if ye Lord shall see fitt, to make him a Minister vnto his people and that all ye charge thereof shalbe discharged out of the proffitt which it shall please god to send out of the stocke.'".5
Charles Hoar's widow and five children emigrated to New England by 1640.2 Mistris Joanna Hoar, widdow, died 21 Dec 1661 at Braintree, MA.4
