Samuel/4w Brooks was born 18 Apr 1707 at Woburn, MA.1 In a deed of 16 Jan 1739/40, his father Jabez Brooks conveys unto his sons, including Samuel Brooks, husbandman of Woburn, his right in a "way leading from the country road between my house and Mr. Belknap's house to the Richardson Row, to lie for an open road."2 Samuel subsequently removed to join his brother Jabez in Middletown, CT, where he married, 12/17 May 1743 or 4, Martha Robards.3,4
There his will, dated 8 Apr 1763, bequeaths to wife Martha all his moveable estate to have and dispose of as she pleases, as well as his dwelling house, barn, and lands to have and improve as long as she shall live. After her decease, house, barn and lands are to be equally divided among his unnamed brothers and sisters. He named his brother Jabez executor. Witnesses: Daniel Prior, Jun'r, Huldah Prior, Mary Wright.4 6 Jan 1783, brother Jabez Brooks appeared in probate court to refuse the executor's trust reposed in him, and his son, Capt. Jabez Brooks (Samuel's nephew) was appointed administrator.4
