       Phebe/4 Richardson was born 21 Feb 1700 at Woodstock, CT.1,2 She married, 2 Jun 1719 at Pomfret (int. 22 Feb 1717/18, Woodstock), John/4w Brooks III of Pomfret, son of John/3w Brooks and Mary Bruce.3,4 He died at Ashford 29 Mar 1743.5 Her death is not of record. They are buried in the Old Ashford Cemetery.6 Windham County Probate Index, 4:199.7

       John/4w Brooks III, 2d so-named, was born 28 Nov 1694 at Woburn, MA.1 11 Jun 1718, "for the sum of 'fourscore pounds," Edward Ruggles of Roxbury sold to John Brooks of Woburn an estimated 82 acres at Pomfret, CT. John's uncle Ebenezer Brooks had preceded him to Connecticut in 1716, settling nearby at Killingly.2
     John married, 2 Jun 1719 at Pomfret (int. 22 Feb 1717/18, Woodstock), Phebe/4 Richardson of Woodstock, daughter of Zachariah/3 Richardson and Mehitabel Perrin.3,4 Named in his father's will, 6 Aug 1726.5 "He moved to Ashford, CT, which is on an old Indian trail which became the first traveled road between Boston and Hartford. Today, the direct route between Hartford, CT and Providence, RI, U.S. Route 44, runs through the village, past the old cemetery where John and Phebe are buried and past the site of the Congregational Church, now gone."6,7
     John Brooks died at Ashford 29 Mar 1743 at age 48.8 Windham County Probate Index, 3:155-158.9 "He is buried in the Babcock Burial Ground (also known as the Old Ashford Cemetery), Ashford…with his wife Phebe near his friend, Rev. James Hale. The tombstone was still readable in 1981. The Burial Ground lies in the Northwest corner of the green beyond the Ashford Academy…."10
